Dear Good People, coming to you very early in the day. I've been putting in long studio hours and going to bed ridiculously early and thus, it's 4am and here I sit—Vince Mendoza filling up the sound waves ("Lullaby" is on now), writing this week's gig email to you. Hoping this update finds you in a good place and digging on the long summer days. It's a great ride and I'm glad to be on it with all of you.

Emily Elbert is coming to town. She's a singer that I met a couple years back over the internet. A friend sent me a YouTube link and I was blown away when I heard this great new vocalist taking Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and warping it into something completely new and different. It was just she and the acoustic guitar—raw and full on abandon filled with incredible spirit. Add in that she looks like she's all of 12 years old and you start to try and figure out how this pencils out. It turns out she's older than she looks but still a really young person playing fantastic music.

Check out the "Thriller" video and see what I'm talking about.

Since finding out about her I've worked it out for us to do shows together when she's passing through San Diego. Those shows have been amazing and we put together a really eclectic set list featuring jazz, Hendrix, The Beatles, Emily's originals plus a few of my creations. We bring in my brother Tripp on sax, flute and percussion plus the low-end support of Gunnar on bass.

Check out this video of us working in a new direction to the Beatles classic "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window".

There you go with the backstory to this week's Emily concert and look below for the details. The concert is on Sunday night in PB and really hoping to see you there!

Also in the works for this week—Thursday night is solo guitar music at The Roxy in Encinitas. It's always a good hang along the 101.

I'm playing this Friday and Saturday at Ki's in Cardiff. Leonard will be with me on Friday night and next maestro Benedetti is in the loop for Saturday night. Great food and music and always the possibility of skinny-dipping after the gig in the ocean!

Last up is a free concert in Point Loma on Monday night at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. It'll be Leonard and I and we did this same music series last year and it's a great scene and setup. See you there!
