Greetings Folks from the sun drenched coastline! I’m almost blind from the reflection off my computer monitor. This is working!

We had a great concert at Dizzy’s last weekend and young Chris Burgess was playing up a storm. Thanks to all of you that made it out for the altered dominant chords and the polyrhythmic mayhem.

I’m packing my bags today and shipping off to Missoula, Montana for some music in the mountains. I’m playing solo sets and then connecting with a bass player and a drummer for some trio music. Should be a fun time and I’ll try and take some photos and bring back the world according to Montana.

Coming up right on my return is a Saturday house concert in Encinitas. It’ll be my brother Tripp and I along with vocalist Sylvia Lange. I met Sylvia some years ago and she’s recorded two or three of her CD’s at SpragueLand. She has a beautiful voice and loads of enthusiasm and we’ve got some cool tunes picked out. Look below for the details on how to get tickets. Hope to see you there.

Ending out the week is a rare appearance of my String Consort group in Pacific Beach on Sunday early evening. We’re pulling it together at the Tango del Rey and I’m thinking the sound of our septet will be stellar in the wild confines of this tripped out building. Have you ever been there? It’s a super cool setup for music and I’ll bet you’ve never seen anything like the décor on the interior — Middle Eastern meets Tijuana side street. For the group, we’ve worked out the kinks on my new piece “Mundaka” which spins around in some wild time meters eventually finding itself in a back and forth conversation between the bass and the cello. Check it out! You can order tickets online or just show up in real-time. Look below for the fine print and I sure hope you can fit this one in.
