Friends, I hope it’s all working for you. I’ve been having some great times with my head buried in a zillion notes examining the multi angles on what the violin 2 should play when the chord moves to F suspended. It’s the endless puzzle of composition.  I’m working on a new arrangement for my String Consort group and we’ll be adding this new piece along with a song by Bob Magnusson into our repertoire for some upcoming shows this month. Tons of effort but enormous fun.

For this week I’m playing it solo tonight at the Julian Library. Hope it doesn’t snow ‘cuz I ain’t got no chains!

On Thursday eve I’ll land at the Roxy for some solo guitar mischief.

Rounding out the week, I have a concert with Kevyn Lettau on Friday night at the Encinitas Community Center. Kevyn and I are playing a program of all Cole Porter songs on the first set and then all George Gershwin tunes on the second set. We had our first rehearsal yesterday and what a joy, coasting along in the beautiful puffy world of these two brilliant composers. Classic lyrics!

“Good authors too who once knew better words, now only use four letter words writing prose, anything goes.”
Cole Porter from Anything Goes

The concert is free and should be a hoot. I hope you can make it out.

Peter and Kevyn getting ready for a major dose of Tin Pan Alley.

That’s it for this week! adios, Peter

7:30 PM   Jazz guitarist Peter Sprague teams up with vocalist Kevyn Lettau in an exploration of some of the finest songs ever written. They'll present a new approach to the classics tunes written by George Gershwin and Cole Porter. "I Love You" played as a Brazilian bossa nova, floating inside "Someone to Watch Over Me" and adding in Chet Baker's scat solo on "But Not For Me"— look forward to a magic evening of two inventive jazz artists.
