Hey Friends, summer is here and we’re loving it! We had a fantastic time in Kauai filled with music, family, friends, shaved ice, small waves, clear warm water, ultra expensive food, sailboats, snorkeling, papaya and mangoes, sun, rain, wind, stars, birds, outdoor showers, and parties. Great parties! Here are a few pictures and thanks so much to magical folks of Kauai for their Aloha spirit…

Here's one of the parties we had with Kylie, Janet Magnusson, Ron Florentine, Stef, Alexis Ahrens, Toby Ahrens, Bob Magnusson,
Peggy Libo, Michael Edwards, and Surfer Pete.

I’m teaching at the UCSD Jazz Camp this week so time is a little short for the newsletter creation dance. I’ve got a few gigs and they look like they’re going to be good ones so I’m cutting to the chase.

First off I’m playing a short solo guitar gig at Anthology on Thursday eve before the main act comes on.

On Friday, myself along with Duncan and Gunnar, will join up with Dr. Hafez Modirzadeh who plays tenor sax and lives in San Francisco. This concert is part of the Center for World Music and the Persian Cultural Center and will be held at the Neurosciences Institute in La Jolla. I’ve never played with Hafez before but he sounds great on his cd and he’s got some cool tunes planned. “Giant Steps” is on the list so I’m brushing it up. Hope you can make this one.

We’re playing the wonderful Inn L’Auberge in Del Mar on Saturday evening with Gunnar and Lisa Hightower. Always fun there!

On Sunday I’m thrilled to play at the new jazz club in Little Italy called Anthology. We’re bringing our Pass The Drum group and we’ll play some of the Sergio Mendes Brazil ’66 tunes along with some of our other classics. I haven't been to the club yet but I’ve been told the sound is spectacular and the setup for hearing music is paramount. This is going to be a great show and we’re hoping you can all make it out. Look below for the details…

That’s it for now, more news in the next installment. Happy times and keep the sky in your head…

adios, Peter
