Dear Good Ears of Jazz, I made it back from Roswell with semi-sanity intact. It turns out that Bill Watrous couldn’t make the hit because of health problems. This was too bad and his brilliant playing was really missed. Let’s all share a few good thoughts and send them Bill’s way for a quick recovery. The Roswell trip was a hit and run, fly in, drive a zillion miles through some expansive outback, arrive in a small beaten up town, plug into a relic Fender Twin Reverb with grounding problems, play through some standards with a rather large band for a somewhat small but devoted audience, get lost on the way back from the gig, sit in on a late night jam session, sleep in a Holiday Inn with a little too much air conditioning taking place, bust out early in the morning to various airport hops up and down making my way back to San Diego, and then ta-daaaaa—I’m back home safe and I once again realize how much I love living here. It’s a deluxe feature getting to inhale this ocean air everyday and not for even a second do I take it for granted. Long live our luxurious Babylon!

For this week I’m stoked to be playing Ki’s with Tripp, Leonard and signing up for the mischief is our dad Hall. The classic beatnik will add the bongo chill to the Brazilian mix and we’re venturing into a few new tunes that Leonard and I have been working on. I hope you can make it out…

Also this week is the Peter Pupping guitar show with an excellent band and music from his latest release. We’ll be doing it at the Belly Up and it should be loads of fun…

That’s what I know so far. Stay creative, Peter
