Dear Good People of Music, I’m just emerging after a bunch of days of mixing a country record at SpragueLand. Hey, we do it all! Actually we don’t do it all and this is really the first full on country record that I ever done. I’m loving it! Classic Americana themes with the highest rhyme level payoffs this side of the Mississippi! Yee-haw!

Thanks for all of your comments about the Encinitas Library concert last week. We’ll submit your words along with our concert summary to the folks that awarded us the grant and they’ll be happy to see that not only did the musos have a wonderful and creative experience but all of this good will morphed over to the audience as well. We’ll hopefully plan another show for next year, but this time we’ll search out a bigger venue. That was super crowded!

I was digging the whole experience at the Encinitas Library gig!

I’ve posted 2 videos from the Encinitas concert at YouTube. The Calling Me Home Suite is 30 minutes long and it actually breaks tons of rules on different levels. It has parallel 5ths, Bach wouldn’t dig this. It’s complicated and intense and KIFM Smooth Jazz radio would ban me for life. Oh wait, they’ve already done that! And most internet marketers recommend short vids so folks won’t loose interest. 30 minutes, what was Peter thinking?

Dig one of the comments that a YouTube viewer wrote:

"Wow, these days you're lucky if you can get me to sit down and watch two minutes of a guy dressed up like a bat flinging himself off a cliff on YouTube! Thus, I was pleasantly? surprised to view this video and realize it was a half hour long! Thank God for traffic or we would of never have heard this. Great job Peter and your entire cast. You didn't mention the set designer who made the Copley stage look so much like a school cafeteria. What? It's not the Copley Symphonic Hall? It should be!

When ClivusKauai refers to “Thank God for traffic” he’s referencing my inspiration for the big Suite which was getting stuck in the 805 / 5 merge on one typical Friday at 5 PM. It hurts so much to go so slow!

And here are a couple of photos from the concert:

The girls! That's Lisa Hightower on the left and Nina Flowers on the right. They sang beautifully and had a great time along the way. Lisa is with me and the gang tomorrow night at the RB Library.

Matt Falker was part of the vocal quartet and this cat scats up a storm. Check his solos on the 2 vids and you'll see what I mean. Matt is the vocal professor at Mira Costa College and he's in the loop with us on the upcoming Beatles concert in March.

Moving on, here’s my schedule for tomorrow:

Wake up and practice the guitar. How's the surf?
Play a FREE concert at the Rancho Bernardo Library
High-tail it right after the concert to the airport and catch a red-eye to NYC.

Please join us for the library concert tomorrow night and it’ll be Tripp, Lisa Hightower, Gunnar and I sharing our sonic revelations. Look below for the fine print.

And if you happen to be in NYC over the weekend please come hear us at Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Rose Room on Friday and Saturday nights. I'm there with Dianne Reeves.

We can all meet at Whole Foods after the gig for an organic smoothie! There's one right around the corner.

Looking ahead, maybe mark the date for our Peter Sprague Plays the Beatles concert at the amazing Mira Coast Concert Hall on March 1. It’s going to be great and for a little taste of how it goes, check this vid.

Thanks for the alphabet ride and see you on the next loop, Peter

adios, P
