Dear Friends, in the swirl of desert winds, it was a full day of recording. But luckily my nephew Gabe inspired me to sneak in an early morning surf with him at Beacon’s. Offshore winds and the deep blue ocean mixed in with still fairly warm water— all good reasons to call this home. As I’m writing now, the Santa Ana winds are really kicking up and I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. The magic of October!

Last week I had a great time playing at Vitello’s in L.A. with Denise and the band. A bunch of folks made it out and the music was cooking. I also dug reconnecting with Yutaka, who, the last time I saw him was in Mexico City when we were on a tour with Sergio Mendes. Yutaka plays keyboards and loves Brazilian music and he also helped record and mix Denise’s latest project. This dude knows Pro Tools!

Last week's gig at Vitello's with (left to right) Sir Hamilton Price, Geoffrey Keezer, Yutaka, Denise Donatelli, Peter, Rob Lockhart and Marvin "Smitty" Smith.

I played solo guitar last week at the Inn L' Auberge and it was a chapter right out of the “clash of music against talkative wi-fi connected young professionals.” We all agreed that Friday nights were best suited for the expression of the mouth instead of pulling in the sound of music through the ears. No worries, they ended up having me back last Tuesday night and it was a completely different setup. More like it used to be—cool couches, a fireplace, some folks hanging and listening and you could actually hear the guitar. Now, the new story is that I’ll be playing guitar there on most Tuesday evenings for a good long run. Wonderful! Please consider the sane early hours of 5:30 to 8:30PM and the great vibe of downtown Del Mar as further gravity to lure you in. Hope to see you there.

Tomorrow eve I’m stoked to be hitting it at the Roxy in Encinitas for a night of guitarananda. It’ll be the sound of namaste in drop D tuning!

On Friday night I’m lining up the electrons to make the connection with avatar guitarist Fred Benedetti and my forever versatile brother Tripp on the sax, flute, EWI, chromatic harmonica, cajon, shaker, caxixi and pandiero. All I can do is play the guitar. But alas, I have electronics and I’m not afraid to plug in! Come out to Grossmont College and check out our Blurring the Edges group. It’ll be a great night of music and exploration. Look below for the fine print.

Fred Benedetti and I getting ready for a concert out at Palomar College. We're packing a fair amount of cables for two acoustic musicians.
That’s it folks and thanks for your continual support.

all the very best, Peter
