Hello Good People, mister frozen fingers writing you from the hail-strewn confines of SpragueLand. It’s a cold one today and I’m typing slow. I’ll have to defrost my hands before I can do any fancy licks on the guitar. Love the water for the earth though and I’m thinking, keep it coming!

I had a wonderful weekend of music starting with a classic Roxy hang moving to a wonderful reunion with Tripp and Fred at Grossmont College. Good food and music at Harry’s with Bob and Tripp and then an excellent concert yesterday at SDA in Cardiff. Thanks to all that made it out to hear our music and indeed we will continue on.

This week I’m heading out to Yuma, AZ to play a show with Leonard. First we’ll stop at Arizona College for a music clinic and then from there we’ll play an evening concert. Look below for the details if you know anyone that might like to check it out.

Also this week I’m going to hear one of the greatest jazz guitarists that ever lived—Jim Hall is playing a concert on Wednesday evening at the Neuroscience in La Jolla. He’s also celebrating his 80 birthday! I’ve been a fan of his music for my whole life and it’ll be a thrill to hear him live with his quartet. He’s got a beautiful melodic sense and the big deal is that what drives his music is “music” in the purest sense, not just what happens to lay easy on the guitar or some fast riff. His solos unfold in an organic way and tell meaningful stories. It’ll be a great night of music and if you can break free, here are the details:

Athenaeum Jazz at The Neurosciences Institute

Hanging with Jim Hall the last time he came to town. That's me on the left, Jim in the middle and Joey Carano on the right.

Just a note, looking towards next week, we have a special free concert in Encinitas playing our version of BeatleMania. I’ll post more info next week but if you’re interested be sure to put the date on your calendar. It’ll be a great time!

That’s it for now and thanks for checking this out….best, Peter
