Hey Folks, zipping out of a full weekend of great music and excellent hang time with my family and friends. I even squished in a mini-surf session last night and the good news is the water is warming up! Not Cabo warm mind you but at least heading in the right direction.

We had a great time at the Encinitas Arts Festival on Saturday and we debuted a few new arrangements and compositions. I loved hearing my new “Saudade do Voce” with the cello carrying the main melody. Wow!

Yesterday afternoon we had an inspiring concert in O’side with Mundell Lowe on guitar. This dude just turned 90 years old and he’s playing beautifully. I want to be like him when I grow up!

That's Mundell Lowe on the right with Duncan on the drums, Bob Magnusson on bass and me on the twin neck guitar. It was a wonderful afternoon of jazz in O'side.

For this week we’re thinking about James Taylor and bringing some of his songs into our repertoire. Leonard and I have been invited to join vocalist and guitarist Joe Rathburn as part of his Folkey Monkey music series and this week’s theme is JT. I grew up with his music and the mix of his earthiness with some beautiful harmonic twists and turns makes it a great fit for where I like to travel in music. It all happens on Thursday night and I think it’s going to be a wonderful night of music. Here’s an article in this month’s Troubadour about the event.

I'm not sure James would get as wild as where Leonard is heading with this but what the heck! It's only sound in the air!

Friday night finds us at Grossmont College exploring the Blurring the Edges songbook. It’ll brother Tripp, Fred Benedetti and me slipping and sliding in flamenco, jazz, samba, and Beatlemania. See you there!

On Saturday afternoon we’re playing a free concert at the Escondido Library. It’ll be Gunnar Biggs, Tripp and me riding the inland sonic wave. Hanging ten!

From Escondido I’m heading to Encinitas to play Saturday night with Kevyn Lettau at the Roxy. We really dig these duo shows and mix in the cool vibe of Encinitas and the magic Roxy falafels and you've got an exellent evening in place. See you there!

That’s the word for now. Have a fun week, Peter
