Hi Friends, last night I went to bed finally at a reasonable hour. I’m feeling rested, the sun is out and I can hear the freeway. This usually means that we’re spinning into a Santa Ana and I can dig the potential midday heat. Bring it on!

It’s been quite a roll for the last two weeks and it all came together beautifully on Sunday night at the Tango del Rey for our Calling Me Home cd release event. The music was super hooked up, the sound in the room was just right, the grooves—solid as a rock — and the vocalists really brought the magic to the moment. We had a HUGE turnout and I thank all of you for supporting our insanity by showing up and taking it all in. Man, sure would be fun to present this program again downwind. We’ll see if any situations present themselves.

This was the set-up at Sunday's show. We had a couple of songs with all of the vocalists into the music at the same time.

Kate Fuller sang the flowing "To Live in the Heavens" and then bopped out on "I'm Beginning to See the Light."

Here is Kevyn Lettau singing "What is Enough."

Allison Adams Tucker sang "Cantar" and a beautiful Brasilian tune called "Rosa."

One of the magical highpoints was Lisa Hightower's singing on "Rain."

Leonard sang "Holding On in Bombay" and a bunch of folks told me that this song really spoke to them.

We had a cool vocal chant moment going on at the end of Kevyn's "What is Enough." Kate is on the left, next Lisa and then Kevyn.

Danny Green played piano and here he is, fully focused and dealing with a page full of notes. He played beautifully!

Gunnar on the bass had a real zen moment on the intro to "Living In The Heavens" supplying some Hindu bowed low end.

Amidst the lead up to last weeks show some cool press happenings came into focus. Many thanks to George Varga for his piece in the San Diego Union Tribune, to Brendan Clemente for putting together an interview with me for the San Diego Entertainer Magazine, to Vince and Claudia at KSDS radio for hosting Lisa and I on The New Jazz Thing and to Jim Trageser for his CD review in the North County Times. This wave of press really helped spread the news and I so appreciate it. Also, a cool video of Fred and I playing “She’s Leaving Home” at our recent Paper Moon show just made it’s way to the web.

For this week I’m stoked to be playing tonight at The Roxy in Encinitas. I missed last week and I can’t wait to ease into the waters of sonic freedom and orange juice smoothies. Hope to see you there.

On Sunday eve Kevyn and I are heading up to L.A. to play a show at The Blue Whale. It’s my first time there and I’ve heard good things about this new music spot.

That’s the news for now and thanks for reading.
adios, Peter
