Friends, I’m up early, the sun is refracting full on through the window, the surf is flat—today is a good day to catch up on the office details that forever spiral out of control. I’d been putting them off for a couple of days to spend extra time practicing for the concert last night at KSDS Radio. I could always use more. I semi-crashed and burned on a few tricky passages—is there a doctor in the house? What a thrill though to be hightailing it through a new set of music with a stellar group and a big enthusiastic audience. We played the tunes from our upcoming CD “Mill Creek Road” and part of today’s paper pushing will be to get the new CD circulated out into the world. More on this coming up later.

The news for this week is our upcoming concert at the Encinitas Community Center on Sunday with my String Consort group. This show is free to the public and is sponsored by the city of Encinitas and the Mizel Family Foundation Community Grant program. Last year we had the same event and all of the elements came together for a wonderful evening of music. The room has great acoustics, we always love playing and the idea of a no admission fee universally resounds YES! Look below for the details and we hope you can make it out.

Here's a photo of the group playing a show from a couple of months back. We actually had 3 concerts in a row and what a luxury that is to be able to really get inside the music.

Here I am again passing judgement on a chord voicing. Mmmm, not sure this one is going to take over the world.

That's Bob Magnusson on the left and our two violinists Bridget Dolkas and Jeanne Skrocki on the right.
