Hi Good People, yesterday was a beach day and the official greeting into summer. I was there, standing on my head, accumulating sand in my hair, drifting in the wild blue with my longboard. The moment worked perfectly to offset the long hours in the studio doing remixes. I sure like living in California!

Emily Elbert and Peter.

For this week vocalist Emily Elbert is pulling into town and we’re playing a show at Tango del Rey in Pacific Beach. I first heard about Emily through a friend of mine who directed me to her online video of her smiling into the camera and pulling off a creative new version of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. How old is this girl? She plays interesting guitar too and that mixed with her amazing voice immediately hooked me. Through the infinite possibilities of the internet, we organized a quick rehearsal and concert and had a fantastic show. The turnout was all-time and check out a few of these audience responses:

We were in attendance last night at Tango Del Rey - a magical evening to say the least! In a few words we want to encourage you to think SERIOUSLY about taking what you put together to another level. We would have paid Las Vegas prime show prices for last night's experience and still come away feeling we got a bargain! Thank you for bringing Emily to San Diego. We're thrilled we saw the article in Night & Day (SD Union/Tribune) and made the effort to be there. I'm not a musician - just an audience "schmuck" - but I'm telling you - you captured a (multi) million-dollar moment.

Peter, great gig last evening! I’ve never been to a concert that included pieces by the Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, Jobim, and well - Emily.  She has a flagrant disregard for genre - which works well for her. This truly brings it back to the old adage — there are only two types of music: bad (poorly played) music, and (well played) good music. Emily is amazing!
Brian.

The concert will be on Friday night and along with Emily and myself will be Tripp Sprague on sax and flute and Gunnar Biggs on bass. Look below for more details and ticket information. I hope you can make it out.

I’m thrilled to play 2 solo guitar shows this week. I’ve been working on my solo guitar repertoire and the possibilities seem endless. I’ve been listening to Hendrix and am wondering if any of his cool chord voicings will make their way into the mix. Maybe on a Cole Porter tune for total illegality issues. Jazz police — at your beckon call.

Come and check it out on Thursday evening in Encinitas at the Roxy and/or at the Paper Moon on Sunday. The Paper Moon is a music store in Point Loma that puts on occasional concerts. It’s a new venue for me and it sounds fun.

That’s it and I’m hoping for a good summer for all of us.
adios, Peter

7:30 PM   Tripp, Leonard and I are heading to Kauai to play the jazz festival there and we thought it'd be cool to play a show in San Diego to share in the aloha, California style. Opening the show will be singer-songwriter Nina Francis. This is a really cool setup for a concert in the lovely home of John and Kim and it'll be a magical evening with some intermission desserts.
