Good People, it’s a glorious day of sun! Usually here on the coast the grey sky wins over until the afternoon but today is different—all the way from first light it’s been a cloudless blue ceiling as far as the eye can see. I took this as a cosmic sign to squeak in a morning surf and was rewarded with some cool lumpy wind swells with various options of aquatic travel. One could ride left or right or even straight and the ocean was happy to offer up a thrill.

It’s a good day and an even better one now that the secret flash drive from Baja arrived in the mail and provided Tripp and I with ocean images from the morning before we boarded our plane back home. We woke up early after a late gig and made a dash to the cape and surfed some right hand beauties right up until the moment we had to hightail it back to the airport to board the plane. Nothing like living it fully when the situation is right! Leave catching up on sleep for when we’re older! That’s what I say!

That's me streaking across a blue and green Baja beauty. Hurry up, the plane leaves in 45 minutes!

I love this one of my brother Tripp on a big red surfboard. The dude is amazing! He didn't surf much all year long since the last time we were in Baja yet here he is pulling off a crazy bottom turn on a good size Baja right hander. You should hear him play saxophone too!

Last week Fred, Tripp and I played an inspired concert at Grossmont College. Both Fred and I play these unique double neck guitars and we’re thinking they cover a lot of sonic territory. Hey Fred, I think we need to rethink our approach. Check this out!

Where can I order it? Just think, when I'm not playing a gig I can take this thing out in the yard and use it as ladder to touch up paint the rain gutters.

There has been some recent seismic activity on YouTube from a few concerts that just passed by. I remember feeling especially good about the Germany shows back in March and more recently, the Mundell Lowe concert in O’side on Duke's “In a Sentimental Mood.” Check ‘em out!

For this week I’m readying the electronic magic boxes plus pulling out the nylon 6 string bandit for a night of solo guitar music at the one and only Roxy in Encinitas. The saga continues!

I’ll be at Ki’s this weekend and for Friday night it’ll be me along with ‘bro Tripp and the wonderful young Nina Francis on vocals. Nina sings up a storm, plays guitar and writes cool songs from a young persons perspective. She’s studying music at USC and is making leaps and bounds with her art. Come on out and you’ll be able to say you heard her when!

Saturday night at Ki’s will be Leonard Patton and me playing some of the new music that we’ve been working on. We’ve got some personalized versions of James Taylor and Jimi Hendrix added into the mix and for good measure we’re playing this cool samba about an enlightened banana tree called “Bananeira.” You’ve heard of Buddha underneath the Bodhi tree but this how they roll in Brazil!

Last up for the week is a Sunday afternoon hit at 98 Bottles with Mundell Lowe on guitar, Bob Magnusson on bass, and me on the 12 neck guitar. Mundell has been playing guitar most of his 90 years and he’s a gem on every level. It’ll be a hoot!

That’s the word for now. Hang ten and see you out in the water! Peter
