Friends, I hope all goes well for you. I’ve been working hard putting the final details to my String Consort CD—checking the mixes in the studio, the car and the iPhone headphones. It seems to be sounding good in all the locales so my thumbs are up! My friend Barbara Rix is seeing that the cover design all comes together and we’re getting the whole thing off to the printer this week. This escalated sprint has the optimism of having CD’s for our performance at the Idyllwild Jazz Festival at the end of the month in mind. It’ll be close but if ol’ Murphy keeps his distance we just might pull it off. Fingers crossed!

Tomorrow I’m flying out to Colorado to spend a week in the loop with vocalist Dianne Reeves. She’s the gal that I went on those tours last year and it’s always a magical moment hearing her sing. For this concert she’s adding a few background vocalists plus Munyungo Jackson on percussion along with the rest of the band. Dianne is from Denver so this in a way is a hometown show for her. Big fun!

Right when I get back in town I’ll be teaming up with Leonard, Tripp and Gunnar to play a concert at the Amphitheatre in Del Mar right at the corner of the Coast Highway and 15th Street. This is the same spot we play our Christmas Eve show. It’s summer now and we’ll try and create the same vibe but this time around we’ll all be wearing shorts. It’s an early evening concert and it’s free to the public. I hope to see you there.

That’s it for now, stay well, Peter
