Friends, it’s hailing outside and just when I thought summer was around the bend. Love it all nonetheless…

Last weekend we had a fun show at Dizzy’s with Lisa and Leonard singing and Gunnar and Tommy holding down the groove factor. What a joy for me drifting on the new tunes and hearing them sung so beautifully. I’ll let you know the next time we lean this way for a show and many thanks to all of you that came to the concert…

Also last week we had a stellar recording session at SpragueLand documenting the music for Kelly Jocoy’s upcoming CD project. Kelly was in our early band Dance of the Universe and his drumming was heard on my very first record called “You Make Me Want To Sing”. Along with bassist John Leftwich, vocalist Kevyn Lettau, bro Tripp on sax and me on the guitar, Kelly was the rhythmic dynamo in that spirited era. He has since moved to L.A. and has kept his music alive interweaving it with a wonderful family life and a day gig as a bonds trader. For this session we had pianist Mike Wofford in the house along with bassist Darek Oles, Tommy Aros on percussion, Leonard on vocals, Tripp on sax, Gary Meek on sax, me on guitar and of course Kelly on drums. We tracked Wayne’s “Lester Left Town”, a Thad Jones tune called “De Samba”, a gorgeous slowster by Kenny Garrett called “Tsunami Song”, and an old Rob Schneiderman tune that we couldn’t even find the name of. It was a fun day with creative musos putting it out and I’ll let you know when the disc surfaces.

Coming up for this week is the fun and weird hit out in Del Dios featuring Tripp, Leonard, myself and hopefully my Dad on percussion too. We take the turn off the Del Dios highway and mysteriously a new set of rules start to apply. Hope to see you there…

Best, Peter
