Hola Good People, Metheny is tearing up “Ozark” as we speak and I write to you in good spirits. His music fits right in with the episodes of sunlight and the hefty south wind dancing around outside. As falls Wichita!

It was a wonderful weekend and the highlight was the Sunday “Peter and the Kids” concert. The kids really brought it to the stage after many months of practicing. I loved the way it sounded with the strings and the only bummer on the whole deal is that it’s over. We need to do it again sometime!

The NBC film crew came to the rehearsal and did a little video piece on the event. Go here if you want to check it out. And also here for the written piece on the event.

This was the scene at Sherwood for the Peter and Kids concert. That's the choir in the back with Sally conducting. The string players are (left to right) Jeanne Skrocki, Kate Hatemaker, Pam Jacobson, Carter Dewberry and then Bob Magnusson on bass, Bill Cosenza on vocal rap, Duncan Moore on drums and me on the far right digging the whole setup.

For this week I’m returning back to the Roxy for a good solid run of Thursday night solo guitar shows. Big fun and hope to see you there.

The only other gig for this week is a concert with vocalist/ guitarist Steph Johnson and Tripp Sprague on Saturday night in Encinitas. This is part of the San Diego Folk Heritage Concert Series and the shows are held at the San Dieguito United Methodist Church off of Encinitas Boulevard. I met Steph a couple of years back and this will be our first concert together. She’s a fantastic singer with a cool bluesy angle on jazz. Last year she won Best Jazz Artist in the San Diego Music Awards and has been playing a bunch of shows around town with her own trio. We’ve selected some great tunes to play together and it’ll be fun to hear it live and in 3D. Hope you can make it out!

Steph Johnson

That’s it for now and good on you, Peter
