Friends, hope all is well in your swirl. All is working over here complete with non-stop Stevie Wonder on the box serving up his amazing combination of pop groove nation mixed in with jazz chords. And the best of it all is Stevie’s vocals riding on the top.

Did you grow up with his tunes too?

Most of us jazz heads, along with a steady balance of Bird, Trane, and McCoy, also had Stevie spinning on the turntable. He’s written so many classic tunes and it’s to this theme that we direct this week’s efforts and inspiration.

On Saturday we’re pulling together the usual suspects and playing the music of Stevie Wonder from our jazz point of view. In the band is the gifted Geoffrey Keezer on keyboards and wonderful Rebbeca Jade on vocals, Mister Leonard singing,  bro’ Tripp saxing, Sri Gunnar low ending it, David Anderson on drums and me running the guitars.

Ever thought of blending Stevie’s “I Wish” into Coltrane’s “Resolution”?

We’re trying it and I think it’s working. It's at least a blast, this I know.

Hope to see you there and look below for the details…

Rehearsing for the Stevie gig with (left to right) Leonard, Peter, Rebecca and Rocky the Dog

Also this week, the revolution of solo guitar in North County continues at the Roxy. I’m loving it and thanks to all of you for making it out.

That’s it and take care, Peter
