Hola Fine People, coming to you by way of a summer heat spell in the middle of January, the waves are up and I’ve got a spare minute (before jumping into the big blue) to recycle the wonderful vibe that got created at Dizzy’s for the Stevie Wonder Tribute concert. Thanks BIG to all of you that made it for the show. I think this was the largest turnout we’ve ever had and the new Dizzy’s room has a nice way of fitting everyone in.

There were many highpoints including Keezer’s amazing piano solos—taking a simple chord progression and making it come alive with his inventiveness and subtle humor. On the encore “Living For the City” he proceeded to quote 4 or 5 other Stevie songs inside of his own solo, making these other tunes somehow fit. Brilliant! Rebecca’s version of “Creepin’” was absolute beauty! Bro’ Tripp carved it up on sax and chromatic harmonica mixed in with solid groove support from Gunnar and Dave. Leonard’s scat solo on “Resolution” were some of the best notes I’ve ever heard him choose. Wild! I’ll be back to Dizzy’s in March so I’ll keep you in the loop...

We just finished our set and we're lining up in front of a wall of wine bottles. From left to right, Tripp, Gunnar, Geoffrey, Leonard, Dave Anderson, Rebecca, and Peter.

For this week it’ll be me and La Guitarra on Thursday at the Roxy. For Saturday, the one and only Fred Benedetti and myself team up for two guitar music—playing our blend of jazz, flamenco, samba, The Beatles, and whatever lies in between. We’ve played this venue before and it’s an excellent place for music. Can’t wait! And finally on Sunday night I’m playing at Anthology for the Carl Evans Benefit Concert with Brian Lynch, Glen Fisher, Carlos Vasquez, and Mikan Zlatkovich. Blessings to Carl for good health…

That’s the scoop for now. All good, Peter
