Dear Friends, it’s a good morning with The Beatles on the box, the sun is making it’s way out, and all the machines are happy. Today is a studio day and later in the week I’ve got an exciting show brewing. More details to follow…

Last week we made our way to the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla for the Barack Obama event. Great news and an inspiring talk!
|
|
The band setup with our backs to the big blue and while most of the guests stayed in the room waiting for Barack to arrive and not wanting to give up their prized seat, any time you can play music with the ocean as the backdrop is a good moment. |

Here are the bandmates posse of three Riveted!!! |

For this week we’re presenting an evening of new original music. For the last couple of months we’ve been doing shows of Metheny and Sergio and to contrast that it felt like the right time to corral in some of my current ideas and make a night of it. I’ve had a lot of help from lyricist Randy Phillips on these tunes and we’ve got a cool wide range of sonic color in store. “Weird Science, Modern Times” is a funk tune telling the story of what goes down at the Coyote Bar and Grill in the heat of August including the crazed margarita charged clientele. “Holding On In Bombay” is a work that’s comes from a blip I read in the Utne Reader about the out of control state of public transportation in Bombay and yet the level of human compassion that exists in the midst of it. I wrote a new jazz tune the other day called “I Can’t Make Much Sense Out of You” and we’re also including a new slow one called “The Latitudes of Paris” with a lyric by Lori Tritell. Our band for the show is Leonard and Lisa singing along with Gunnar on bass, Tom Aros on percussion and myself guitar-ing it. I’m really excited about the new music and I hope to see you there…
That’s it for now and keep the sky in your head….adios, Peter

I've been writing a bunch of new tunes and wanting a place to let them take in some air in realtime. Dizzy's is the best and I've got a great band to help them lift off. |
