Friends, we’re leaning towards 2008 and the way we like leaving the old year behind is to play some music in it’s honor. It’s been a good roll with lots of innovation and laughs and I know there’s a lot more to come.

On Christmas eve we’ll assemble the tribe to spice up the holidays, to tune up the good will and to release the hurricane of gift buying frenzy—let it go by this point and ease into the flow. We’ve gathered an outstanding consortium of creative musos and we’ll play a few holiday favorites that have been properly morphed to fit our jazz view of music. Added into the mix is some samba, some Beatles, some blues, and the supreme Joni Mitchell. The Wrong Trousers will take us to new territory and through Fred Benedetti we’ll hang with a modernized Bach. Kate Sprague is singing some Milton Nasciemento and Coral is updating Jobim’s “Wave”. A couple of my original tunes are riding in good hands with Allison Tucker, Lisa Hightower, and Mark Lessman at the helm. And the supreme visionary guru of the band, father Hall Sprague, will be with us with his gaucho hat on.

Life will be great in the heart of Del Mar and we’re hoping the weather is with us too. Remember—warm weather = fast guitaring, cold weather = ballads only…

The concert is free so please join in.

The scene last year with ultra Cali weather and a fine gathering of folks...

I recorded a solo guitar version of the Vince Guaraldi classic “Christmas Time Is Here” and I’ve put it up on my online store. Check here for a listen.

Also, I have the sheet music for the arrangement too and it’s hiding out here.

And yep, the store is still running the 10% discount until the end of the month.
