Hi Good People, I heard some incredible music at Humphrey’s on Monday night! Opening for Return to Forever was Dweezil Zappa’s band “Zappa Plays Zappa” and it was a full on mindblower. The enormous group plays the music of Frank Zappa and captures the quirks, the humor, the complexity and the magic of Zappa’s music. The musicians played up a storm and without any sheet music within miles executed the epic continually unfolding compositions flawlessly! What a trip! On guitar was a former guitar student of mine named Jamie Kime and this cat has it fully going on. Sri Shrednoy! What a night and Zappa's music morphed into an incredible reunion of Chick Corea's band Return to Forever. They too had it firing on all cylinders! Fusion is alive in well! Hah!

My excursions this week take me to a Thursday Roxy spin followed by a Saturday night trio gig at Harry’s in La Jolla. Sunday mellows into a Coronado Boathouse solo hit. Hope to see you all out there!

This cultural affair promotes walking in Solana Beach via the bridges and the Coastal Rail Trail to access Cedros shops, Hwy. 101 restaurants, and stores as well as beach destinations. The celebration will gather the community on the north half of the CRT to enjoy world class artists, entertainment and activities. |
