Greetings Good Folks, Sarah Tavares is on the box warming up this cold February morning with her Brazilian music and I’m tripping on what a good weekend we just flew through. Friday was the String Consort show and this has to be one of my favorite adventures. The quartet is just amazing and filling out their contribution was Duncan on drums catching every nuance and bassist Hamilton Price filling in for a flu ridden Bob Magnusson. Hamilton tore it up with savant reading abilities and great bass solos. This cat is a hero! The concert came off and the wonderful folks at Canyon Crest helped us out at every turn. Big thanks and I can’t wait to play this music again!

The concert at Canyon Crest. From Upper left going clockwise: Carter on cello, Peter and Duncan improvising, Pam J. on viola, Hamilton on bass, the quartet at the sound check, Peter with his Sitar guitar. All photos by Jim Ochi.
Saturday found us enjoying the beauty of Pt. Loma Nazarene’s Crill Performance Hall and what a space that is! On hand was our usual suspects plus a guest visit from vocalist Kevyn Lettau. She sounded fabulous scatting on “Honeysuckle Rose” and doing her Brazilian loop on “Flor de Lis”. It was a wonderful show and we’re thinking we need a little more of this in our lives. I’ll keep you posted for the next adventures of Kevyn…

For this week a rested up Bob Magnusson and I will connect with vocalist Amber Whitlock for a concert at the Unitarian Fellowship’s Founder Hall in Solana Beach. Amber possesses one of the most gorgeous voices around and she guides it through classic songs to share heartfelt stories. It’s nearing Valentine’s Day so we’ll have some love songs in there along with a little Beatles and Jobim. The Ultima Mix! Amber was the main vocalist on my Nikki’s Rose recording and she has her own CD out too. Click here for her website. Also know that the sound and environment at Founder’s Hall is top notch—one of my all time favorite venues. This should be great fun and I hope to see you there. Look below for more details...

And last up, I’m hanging at the Roxy in Encinitas tomorrow eve for another adventure in solo guitaring. Can’t wait!

adios, Peter
