Greetings Friends, this week I’m organizing the details for our upcoming CD release concert. It's on Sunday and we're celebrating my new recording "Calling Me Home." We’ve got a couple of rehearsals planned and I’m putting time aside to get reacquainted with the barrage of harmony living inside of “Weird Science, Modern Times.” Who wrote that tune anyways and why?

"Calling Me Home" is a collection of my original vocal songs. The stories range from a gliding cosmic bicyclist in Kauai named Sarah to the gritty confessions a rocker that has the ironic twist of having rocket scientists for parents. Also included is the raga infused account of a glimmer of human compassion amidst the insanity that exists within the public transportation system in India—this is “Holding On in Bombay.” The albums sonic adventures finally come to the last track, the gospel tranquility of “Calling Me Home.” For the live concert I’ve written a special arrangement of this tune that brings together all of the vocalists for a cool grand finale moment. Can’t wait to hear how it sounds in 3D!

The vocalists that are featured on the CD and who will also be singing live are:
Kevyn Lettau
Leonard Patton
Lisa Hightower
Allsion Adams Tucker
Kate Fuller

And the band will be:
Peter — guitar
Danny Green — piano
Gunnar Biggs — bass
Duncan Moore — drums

The concert will be at Tango del Rey in Pacific Beach on Sunday September 19th at 7:30PM. You can get tickets online or just show up that night. The Tango del Rey can seat around 150 people so there should be room for everyone. Kids are welcome too. Look below for the details and hopefully I'll see you there.

On the left is Leonard Patton and that's me on the right.
Kevyn Lettau on the left and again, me on the right.
Allsion Adams Tucker
Lisa Hightower
Kate Fuller

Writer and musician Bart Mendoza wrote a great review on “Calling Me Home” that is featured in this months San Diego Troubadour newspaper. He writes, “Stylistically, Calling Me Home is an eclectic album. Ballads rub shoulders with Brazilian samba, rock with jazz, and it’s all tied together by Sprague’s stellar playing.” Thanks Bart and if you want to read the whole review, click here.

On this Thursday evening at 7:30PM Lisa Hightower and I will be sharing our stories on KSDS Radio. We’re spreading the news about the upcoming concert plus playing a few tunes live. Tune in to see if we can intelligently string some words together without too many “umms and ahh’s.” Hah!

Also up for this week, TONIGHT I’m playing a free solo guitar concert at the Encinitas Library. Can’t wait to manipulate the silence that exists in libraries.

On Saturday evening we’re waxing up the boards and buckling in the surf leashes for a night of music at the Pacific Beach Surf Shop. They’ve done a cool redesign of the building and have included a stage and it turns out to be a great location for live music. It’ll be Kevyn, Tripp, Gunnar and myself for a night of Music in the Season of the Santa Ana Winds. See below for the fine print.

That’s it for now and thanks for reading, Peter
