Zen and Life Juggling

Friends, I’m just getting back from Chicago with Dianne Reeves and easing into a few October ocean sessions to help dissolve the fog that comes with the long hours dealing with airplane politics. Take off the shoes, take the laptop out, still focus on holding onto the I.D. and the boarding pass, wait in lines, repeat and finally make your way to the gate so you can start the mega wait - Zen and the art of juggling one's life inside a blender. One good thing though is I did get to take a spin through James Taylor’s latest recording called “Covers” and that’s some beautiful music. For this week I’m working on the string music because tomorrow we have our last show for this chapter. I’m heading off to Europe until December so Tuesdays gig with the group will be it for this spell. We played a show at Soka University a couple of weeks ago and the band was levitating —such cool musos all of them! Please come out and hang with us at the Crill Performance Hall at the Point Loma Nazarene University tomorrow and check out how we explore classical and jazz musos mixing it up in realtime. Can’t wait!

Also this week, on Thursday night vocalist Kevyn Lettau and I are playing a duo show at the Roxy in Encinitas. This too will be my last hit there for a while and what a stoke to send it off with Keyvn. Our new CD is at the duplicating plant as we speak and I’m told we’ll have it at the end of next week, just in time before I leave. Hope to see you at the Roxy...

And the last hit this week is a show Fred Benedetti and I will do at the Mission Theatre in Fallbrook. I’m told this is a fantastic spot for music and it’s always a creative flow when Fred and I get together to see what the guitars are talking about. We’ll play my adaptation of the piece “The Width of the World” that I wrote for the San Diego Symphony and we’ll bliss out on “She’s Leaving Home” by the Beatles. It’ll be a good time in Fallbrook.
